Job Description
- supporting senior chefs by prepping ingredients (washing, chopping, measuring), maintaining kitchen hygiene and stock rotation, learning fundamental cooking techniques, and assisting with food preparation.
- Washing, peeling, chopping, and seasoning ingredients; preparing basic salads, sauces, and meats according to recipes.
- Maintaining strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards, using chemicals correctly, and reporting maintenance issues.
- Quickly learning kitchen procedures, mastering basic techniques, and supporting other chefs as needed.
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management or similar fields.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
- Basic food prep, knife skills, knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredient identification, and understanding classic dishes.
- Familiarity with galley layout, equipment (mixers, fryers, etc.), stock rotation, and food storage.
- Strong understanding of food health, safety, sanitation regulations, and chemical safety (COSHH).
- Teamwork, communication (fluent English often needed), time management, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, organization, and a proactive attitude.
