Job Description
- Oversee and manage day-to-day stevedoring activities for general cargo vessels, including breakbulk, project cargo, heavy lifts, steel products, timber, ro-ro and other non-containerized cargo.
- Plan vessel st owage and discharge operations in coordination with shipping lines, terminal planners, and port authorities.
- Supervise foremen, supervisors, and labor gangs during vessel operations to ensure productivity, safety, and adherence to timelines.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and environmental policies during all cargo handling activities.
- Coordinate berth allocation and vessel scheduling with port control and shipping agents.
- Monitor and control operational costs, including labor and equipment utilization.
- Conduct pre-operation and post-operation briefings to identify improvements and ensure smooth workflow.
- Liaise with cargo owners, surveyors, customs, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate documentation and proper cargo handling.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain records of operational performance, incidents, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff and ensure team competence in stevedoring practices.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Business Studies/Administration/Management; Engineering(Others) or similar fields.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
- In-depth knowledge of general cargo handling, vessel operations, and port procedures.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to analyze operational data and make informed decisions (Computer knowledge).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with cargo documentation systems and terminal operating systems.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
