Job Description
- Ensure chicken mortalities are collected daily within appropriate timelines.
- Check mortalities are accurately counted and recorded into shed folder.
- Report immediately any sudden spike increases in shed mortality to Company Vet and Senior Management.
- Performs pre-placement audits and ensures chicks are evenly tipped on newspapers or distributed evenly in cages
- Manages brooders, curtains and fans according to flock and activities.
- Checking feed inventory in shed silos daily, forecasting any shortages and reporting to manager immediately
- Ensures water is available to flock by checking flow rate and water level of both ends of drinker lines, glass sights are cleaned , drinker lines are regularly flushed, filters are cleaned, and leaks are repaired
- Ensures flock is provided with optimum environment by checking and monitoring temperatures and ventilation.
- Performs pre-harvest procedures and monitors catchers during harvest
- Ensure equipment inside allocated sheds are functioning normally.
- Informing Maintenance Department if sheds have any maintenance related issues (breakdowns)
- Maintains an orderly and clean shed.
- Check sheds for signs of missing chickens or equipment from break and enters. Report immediately to Security Department and Senior Management.
- Maintains shed secured by ensuring the shed is locked during breaks and after work hours.
- Inspects daily the sheds and farm periphery and report immediately any suspicious signs of force entry.
- Maintains number of team personnel to correct levels at all times.
- Responsible for hiring, onboarding and training team members
- Checks punctuality and hours worked each day/pay period
- Supporting all action towards the company vision and aim “Zenag Brand Name will continue to increase and dominate market share”
- Directing all efforts towards the company vision: We are committed to “Total Customer Satisfaction” by continuously enhancing our “Poultry Farming Competency” “Meat Processing System” and Customer Service.
- Adhering and following of all company policies and standard operating procedures.
- Conducting yourself in a cooperating and respectful manner towards all fellow employees and colleagues.
- Attending to any organizational assignments as assigned by management.
- Displaying constant punctuality and attendance on a daily basis.
- Working with Shed Boss’, Shed Boss Hand, Broiler Supervisor and other Broiler Farm Managers.
- Maintaining working relationships with external consultants.
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of allocated sheds. Flock husbandry decisions such as ventilation and temperature control will be required
- Hiring, interviewing and training staff. • Staff discipline e.g. warnings and terminations.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Agriculture; Veterinary or similar fields.
- College Graduate of Animal Husbandry or Veterinary.
- At least 5-10 years work experience in a poultry farm, specifically production shed management
- Experience with broiler cage sheds an asset.
- Physically strong and able to work standing for 8hrs. ▪ Attention to detail. ▪ Good communication skills
