Job Description
- Interpreting design orders and creating upholstery stencils.
- Measuring and cutting leather or fabric with the aid of design stencils.
- Installing foam and batting to the furniture framework.
- Installing and repairing furniture webbing and seating springs.
- Stretching out and installing fabric or leather coverings.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be at least a graduate of a four-year undergraduate course.
- TESDA NCII Certificate or Trade Test Certificate in Furniture Making (Finishing).
- Must be competent in the rebuild, reupholstery of fabric, webbing, support systems & padding from old furniture.
- Must be competent in the inspection of frames, springs and structures for damage and perform minor repairs.
- Must be competent in measuring & cutting fabrics, leather, foam and other materials to required dimensions.
- Must be competent in sewing, stitching, adhesive application and stapling materials using appropriate tools & machines.
- Must be competent in fitting, stretching and securing new coverings to furniture frames.
- Must be able to repair or replace zippers, buttons, springs and other upholstery requirements.
- Able to create custom upholstery designs based on client specifications.
- Must be competent in the selection of suitable fabrics, colors and materials for various furniture types.
- Must be competent in operating industrial sewing machines, staplers, cutters and hand tools safely.
- Must be able to provide cost estimates and timelines to clients or supervisors.
- Must be competent in performing finishing touches such as tufting, buttoning, trimming and piping ensuring all completed pieces meet quality, safety and durability standards.
- Adheres strictly to company safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
