Job Description
- Specialised in the installation of cable management systems, the pulling of heavy industrial cables, and the precise termination of control and power cabling within High Voltage (HV) substations and power generation sites.
- Requires a high standard of workmanship, particularly in glanding SWA (Steel Wire Armoured) cables and organizing complex wiring within marshalling kiosks and control panels.
- Tray & Ladder Work: Cutting, bending, and installing heavy-duty galvanized cable trays, ladders, and trunking.
- Conduit Installation: Installing steel and PVC conduit systems.
- Routing: Planning complex cable routes ensuring separation between power, control, and instrumentation cables according to UK standards.
- HV & LV Cabling: Installing large cross-section power cables and multicore control cables.
- Cable Management: Cleating, ty-wrapping, and dressing cables neatly on trays and ladders.
- Handling: Safe handling of heavy cable drums and using winches or cable rollers where necessary.
- Glanding: Expert preparation and termination of SWA (Steel Wire Armoured) cables using CW and BW glands. This is a critical skill for this role.
- Crimping & Lugging: fitting lugs to power cables using hydraulic crimping tools.
- Control Wiring: Stripping, ferruling (labelling), and terminating fine control wires inside panels and marshalling boxes.
- Connection: Connecting cables to transformers, switchgear, motors, and sensing devices
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering(Electrical/Electronic) or similar fields.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience (Oil & Gas, Power Plants, Mines, or Substations). Domestic/Residential house wiring experience is not sufficient for this role.
- Trade Diploma, TESDA NC II/III (Electrical Installation & Maintenance), or equivalent vocational certification.
- Must be proficient in stripping and glanding armoured cables (SWA) to a high standard.
- Ability to read and interpret termination charts, schematic diagrams, and cable schedules.
- Must have a minimum B2 Level proficiency in English.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Experience with Cold Shrink or Heat Shrink terminations.
- Experience in Earthing/Grounding bonding.
- Knowledge of LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out) safety procedures.
