Job Description
- • Carry out mechanical fitting and general engineering tasks as directed, following Work Packs and Job Tickets.
- • Inspect, test and service mechanical systems and components on vessels or industrial equipment.
- • Record critical measurements, data and observations while performing mechanical refurbishment or repair activities.
- • Conduct dismantling, repair, replacement and reassembly of mechanical parts, equipment and machinery.
- • Remove and install shaft lines and associated components, ensuring all measurements are taken accurately and documented.
- • Isolate, disconnect, remove and reinstall on-board mechanical equipment including subsystems, pipework, fittings and fixtures.
- • Perform machining, including turning, milling, grinding, drilling and shaping metal parts as required for maintenance or fabrication tasks.
- • Conduct valve overhaul and servicing on a wide range of valve types.
- • Assist with basic fabrication, metal matching and welding tasks.
- • Ensure all work is completed within designated timeframes; if delays arise, notify Supervisors or Managers immediately.
- • Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in safe, clean and operational conditions.
- • Follow all safety procedures, workplace instructions and engineering standards at all times.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Others or similar fields.
- • Preferably with experience in marine refit/repair, shipbuilding, offshore, or heavy industrial environments.
- • Experience in trades such as Fitter & Turner, Machinist, Diesel Fitter (Heavy), or Pipe Fitter.
- • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, mechanical diagrams and specifications.
- • Experience removing, installing and aligning shaft lines and related components, including accurate measurement and documentation
- • Proven capability to isolate, dismantle, service and reinstall mechanical equipment and associated systems.
- • Valve overhaul and repair experience across various valve types.
- • Basic fabrication, machining, and welding experience.
- • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety requirements and safe work practices.
- • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- • Must be at least a graduate of a 1-year vocational course or have completed at least 1 year in college.
