Job Description
- • Prepare industrial surfaces by washing, cleaning, repairing defects, removing old paint and contaminants, and carrying out surface preparation to the required specification.
- • Mask, encapsulate and protect adjacent areas, fixtures and equipment to prevent overspray and damage.
- • Mix and match paints and coatings in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, job specifications and product data sheets.
- • Apply coatings via spray (airless and conventional), brush and roller to the specified dry film thickness and finish quality.
- • Perform basic quality control checks during application, including testing and recording wet film thickness (WFT) and other relevant measurements.
- • Carry out work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces and at heights, in accordance with company and site safety procedures.
- • Prime surfaces and apply finishing coats, including sanding between coats as required to achieve specified surface finish.
- • Conduct touch-up work and apply protective coats as required to maintain long-term protection of structures, equipment and components.
- • Prepare and maintain the work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition, including the use of drop sheets, barriers and signage.
- • Maintain all tools, spray equipment and accessories in good working order in accordance with quality control (QC) and manufacturer standards.
- • Measure, record and report batch numbers, paint products used and equipment serial numbers in line with project and QC requirements.
- • Estimate and monitor the quantity of materials and time required to complete assigned tasks and promptly report any variances.
- • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to ensure safe, efficient and timely completion of work.
- • Continuously monitor the quality of work and immediately rectify any non-conformances identified.
- • Follow all safety instructions, site rules and company procedures, including correct use of PPE and participation in toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Others or similar fields.
- • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in industrial painting.
- • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in site-based painting activities.
- • Proven experience applying two-pack paints via brush, roller and spray applications.
- • Experience in Defense, industrial or marine environments is highly regarded.
- • Able to undergo and pass extensive pre-employment medical examination and drug and alcohol screening.
- • Strong work ethic with a solid, verifiable work history.
- • Positive and proactive approach to safety and compliance.
- • Willingness and flexibility to work overtime, weekends and shifts as operationally required.
- • Possession of relevant High-Risk License/s (e.g. Rigging/Dogging, EWP, Forklift), as applicable.
- • Valid current tickets for Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights (or willingness to obtain/refresh as required).
- • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
