Job Description
- Installing the assembled hull components onto the ship's frame, both in dry dock and on the vessel itself.
- Laying out, cutting, and shaping metal plates and sections according to specifications.
- Repairing or replacing damaged or corroded sections of the hull.
- Responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing the structural components of a ship's hull.
- Ensure proper alignment and fit of hull components, such as decks, bulkheads, and shell plating, before they are permanently joined.
- Fitters accurately mark cutting lines on materials, then assemble the fabricated pieces, bracing them in position for welding or riveting.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering(Others) or similar fields.
- Experience in related areas like metal fabrication, welding, or construction can be advantageous.
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints is essential for understanding the layout and assembly of ship components.
- Proficiency in cutting, shaping, and joining metal, including welding and riveting.
- Ability to handle heavy materials and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Understanding of shipbuilding terminology, processes, and safety regulations.
