Job Description
- Cutting, shaping, and preparing metal components according to blueprints and specifications.
- Fitting and aligning metal plates, frames, bulkheads, and other structural elements to create the ship's hull.
- Using welding or riveting techniques to permanently attach components to the ship's frame.
- Assisting with the repair and restoration of existing ship structures.
- Ensuring all work is completed to the required standards of precision and safety.
- Fabricates, assembles, and installs the structural components of a ship's hull, including plates, frames, and bulkheads
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering(Others) or similar fields.
- Understanding standards like ABS or NAVSEA is crucial for ensuring quality and safety.
- Shipfitters must be able to accurately read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and assembly drawings.
- Proficiency in welding processes and metal fabrication techniques is essential.
- Experience with cutting and fitting steel plates and beams is a core requirement.
- Familiarity with various hand and power tools used in shipbuilding is necessary.
- Knowledge of rigging tools and procedures is important for safely moving and positioning materials.
