Job Description
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel, beams, columns, platforms, brackets, and pipework to meet dimensional and safety requirements
- Perform MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding processes in accordance with AS/NZS 1554 Structural Steel Welding Standards
- Conduct flame cutting, drilling, bending, rolling, and finishing of mild, stainless, and galvanized steel materials.
- Assemble and install walkways, stairs, handrails, conveyors, silos, and platforms following engineering drawings.
- Safely operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and telehandlers as per licensing requirements.
- Perform bolting, riveting, and welding during field installation
- Carry out on-site maintenance and repairs on steel structures, silos, and cotton gin machinery.
- Inspect and maintain fabrication tools, welding machines, and lifting equipment to ensure safe and effective operation
- Conduct inspections of materials and finished products, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, correctly using PPE and maintaining accurate records of work and installations.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and site supervisors to meet project timelines and quality expectations
- Mentor and support apprentices and junior tradespeople, promoting safe and efficient work practices.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Others or similar fields.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural steel fabrication and welding (construction, heavy industry, or mining).
- Trade Qualified – Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or equivalent internationally recognized qualification
- Proficient in GMAW (3G & 4G), GTAW (6G), and SMAW (3G, 4G & 6G) welding processes.
- Experience in industrial fabrication and equipment installation preferred.
- Must have completed at least 1-year vocational course or one year in college (Fabrication/Welding or related field).
- Candidates not meeting educational requirements must be IELTS or PTE passers for visa eligibility.
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Current White Card (Construction Induction) and certifications in First Aid, CPR, Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights, or Confined Space (or willingness to obtain).
- Sound understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) practices
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
