Job Description
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimise planning, storage, transport, and distribution across the business.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in supply chain processes to improve service levels, cost control, and traceability
- Collaborate with production, farming, and sales teams to align supply chain capabilities with business demand.
- Oversee production planning team, ensuring accurate, forwardlooking planning for eggs, birds, feed, and processed products.
- Balance production capacity with market demand, inventory holding, and delivery requirements.
- Maintain alignment between layer/broiler farming, processing schedules, and logistics capacity.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining 5-year plan.
- Lead the logistics team responsible for inbound and outbound movement of birds, eggs, feed, and finished goods.
- Manage company-owned or contracted fleet performance, route optimisation, scheduling, and compliance with WHS and biosecurity regulations
- Implement and oversee vehicle tracking, cold chain integrity, and delivery KPIs.
- Oversee multiple distribution depots and warehouses, ensuring efficient product storage, handling, and dispatch.
- Manage inventory control, order picking accuracy, FIFO/FEFO stock rotation, and traceability
- Ensure all sites comply with food safety, hygiene, and cold chain standards.
- Ensure transport, storage, and distribution activities meet regulatory, food safety, and animal welfare requirements.
- Manage risk and contingency planning, especially for high-risk nodes such as live bird transport or cold chain failures.
- Lead or support audits for logistics and distribution activities
- Lead, develop, and mentor managers and supervisors across planning, logistics, and depot teams.
- Set departmental KPIs, monitor performance, and drive accountability.
- Foster a collaborative, safety-first culture with high operational discipline.
- Develop and manage budgets for logistics and distribution operations.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in transport, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Monitor and report on cost per tonne/km/unit delivered and other supply chain efficiency metrics.
- The Supply Chain Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for managing and optimising the end-to-end supply chain across the integrated poultry business.
- This includes oversight of production planning, logistics, and depot/distribution operations.
- The role ensures that all products—from live birds and eggs to processed goods are planned, transported, and delivered efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively
- This position plays a key role in aligning supply chain operations with production planning & output, sales demand, and customer delivery expectations
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Agriculture; Business Studies/Administration/Management or similar fields.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in supply chain or logistics roles, preferably in food production, FMCG, or agribusiness.
- Strong understanding of production planning, cold chain logistics, inventory management, and depot operations.
- Experience managing fleet logistics and depot/distribution teams in a regulated environment. • Knowledge of WHS and food safety.
- High-level skills in planning systems, ERP, route optimisation, and data-driven decision-making. • Proven leadership, stakeholder engagement, and performance management abilities.
- Familiarity with technologies such as GPS vehicle tracking, WMS, TMS, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, NetSuite).
- Understanding of sustainability and waste reduction in logistics.
