Job Description
- The Engineering Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for managing all engineering, infrastructure, and technical support services across the business.
- This includes direct oversight of the construction, electrical, plumbing, maintenance, workshop, and security departments
- The role plays a critical part in ensuring the company’s physical assets—such as poultry sheds, processing plants, support buildings, and utilities—are developed and maintained to a high standard of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance
- Develop and implement a business-wide engineering and asset management strategy aligned with company growth and operational goals.
- Support the COO and executive team with capital infrastructure planning, risk management, and develop sustainability program
- Drive innovation in construction methods, energy systems, and maintenance practices to improve efficiency and sustainability
- Lead the in-house construction team responsible for building chicken sheds, warehouses, and all civil works
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to structural, operational, and biosecurity standards
- Oversee contractor engagement, site supervision, and adherence to WHS and environmental requirements
- Manage the electrical team overseeing all low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) power systems
- Ensure effective operation, monitoring, and compliance of onsite power generation systems including solar power and backup generators
- Lead projects related to energy efficiency, electrical safety, and load balancing across sites
- Supervise the maintenance team responsible for the repair and upkeep of all chicken sheds and poultry production infrastructure
- Ensure a proactive preventative maintenance schedule is in place to minimise downtime and maintain shed readiness.
- Support farming and operational teams by prioritising critical repairs and biosecurity-sensitive maintenance.
- Oversee plumbing systems to ensure reliable water delivery, waste handling, and compliance with environmental standards
- Manage the central workshop to support fabrication, repairs, and spare parts availability
- Supervise site security teams, including access control, surveillance systems, and contractor monitoring procedures.
- Ensure full compliance with WHS, building codes, electrical standards, and fire/biosecurity regulations.
- Lead safety and risk assessments across all technical departments and ensure safe work practices are embedded in daily operations.
- Prepare for and participate in audits from government and certification bodies
- Oversee the design, tendering, and execution of capital works and infrastructure upgrades
- Implement asset lifecycle management practices to extend the service life of critical infrastructure
- Maintain accurate records of asset condition, service history, and compliance
- Develop and manage department budgets, including OPEX for support teams and CAPEX for infrastructure projects.
- Monitor project costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure value-for-money procurement practices
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Engineering(Civil); Engineering(Electrical/Electronic); Engineering(Mechanical) or similar fields.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, maintenance, or infrastructure roles.
- Strong background in managing multi-disciplinary teams and capital projects in agricultural, food, or industrial environments.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and capital project management. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
