Job Description
- Shall be able to set up and calibrate NDT equipment, to conduct tests, to interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with procedures approved by an NDT Level lll.
- Should be familiar with the scope and limitations of the method he is certified.
- Should organize and report NDT test results. Should have knowledge of international codes.
- Computer skills, and English is must.
- An RT technician, in the context of non-destructive testing (NDT), refers to a Radiographic Testing (RT) Technician. They utilize radiographic methods,
- often involving X-rays, to inspect materials and components for defects without causing damage. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality, durability, and safety of various structures and products.
- Conducting Radiographic Inspections: RT technicians use X-ray or gamma ray equipment to examine materials, welds, and components for internal flaws, such as cracks, voids, or inclusions.
- Interpreting Images: They analyze radiographic images (X-ray films or digital images) to identify defects and assess the structural integrity of the inspected item.
- Operating and Maintaining Equipment: RT technicians are responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of radiographic equipment, ensuring its proper function and safety.
- Documenting Findings: They meticulously document their inspections, recording findings, measurements, and any identified defects in accordance with established procedures.
- RT technicians adhere to strict safety guidelines and regulations to minimize radiation exposure to themselves and others.
- Working with Other Technicians: In many cases, they collaborate with other NDT technicians, such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT) or Visual Testing (VT) technicians, to conduct comprehensive assessments.
- Supervising Assistants: In some roles, they may be responsible for instructing and supervising assistants or apprentices.
