Job Description
- Monitor process parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates via Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Operate and control ammonia production equipment to ensure efficient and continuous production.
- Adjust controls to maintain optimal plant performance and product quality.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials and emergency response procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., OSH&E, EPA) and company policies.
- Participate in safety drills and maintain knowledge of hazardous material handling, including ammonia leaks and emergency shutdown procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and report potential hazards.
- Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on plant machinery.
- Work with maintenance teams to schedule and execute preventive maintenance.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions or inefficiencies to the maintenance department.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of plant operations, including shift reports, production data, and incidents.
- Report any process deviations, equipment failures, or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Assist in preparing reports for regulatory agencies and internal audits
- Conduct product sampling and testing to ensure ammonia purity meets industry standards.
- Collaborate with process engineers to optimize plant performance and improve efficiency.
- Implement operational best practices to minimize waste and reduce environmental impact.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Engineering(Chemical); Engineering(Electrical/Electronic); Engineering(Mechanical) or similar fields.
- High school diploma or GED required, technical diploma or associate’s degree in chemical processing, mechanical or electrical engineering, with a background in refrigeration and project management.
- 2+ years of experience in ammonia or chemical plant operations is preferred.
- Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA systems is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in FMCG or preferably food manufacturing industry on operation & maintenance activities.
- Excellent understanding of safety and GMP standards for food manufacturing
- Excellent understanding of maintenance planning & and execution.
- A good understanding on CMMS (SYSPRO, PRONTO, SAP).
- Supervisory & Managerial experience is desirable
- Strong understanding of chemical processing and ammonia production principles.
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English with senior management, counterparts and direct reports.
- Display maturity in and out of work
- Must be able to coordinate work of crew/direct reports well.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Taraka Plant by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
