Job Description
- Guidance for passenger and portable items going through the X-ray luggage scanner.
- Primary body search using a walk-through metal detector or full body scanner.
- Secondary body search using a handheld metal detector or pat-down screening (if necessary).
- Screen reading using X-ray or EDS level search.
- Unpacking or secondary individual check on suspicious passengers and baggage.
- Search using liquid explosive detection equipment (BLS, LEDS, etc.)
- Daily inspection of aviation security equipment for its normal operation (can be checked whenever necessary).
- Initial action to take in the case of unusual matters such as seizure of prohibited items and notification to the supervisor, etc.
- Undertaking of other tasks related to security search instructed by the manager.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be at least a high school graduate.
- Must have Basic Aviation Security Course
- Must have 1 year experience as an Airport Security Officer, Screener or X-ray Operator.
- Certificate of medical fitness for hearing and sight/certificate of color blindness.
- Basic computer skills and good in English
- Ability to operate detecting system and emergency equipment.
- Surveillance skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for entire shift and to operate wand in a full range of motion, including overhead.
- Attention to detail must be able to identify the object and risk assessment.
- (40) theoretical hours on how to inspect using X-ray devices
- (60) practical hours on how to inspect X-ray devices.
- Specific specialty course on the X-ray machine type issued by the manufacturer or the unit if not issued by the manufacturer.
- Unimpaired vision and hearing ability (achieved with corrective lenses and hearing aids, if necessary);
- Color perception suitable for operating color X-ray equipment and checking color-coded passes;
- An ability to recognize objects highlighted by X-ray screening;
- Good oral and written communication skills, unaffected by speech impediments;
- Good interpersonal skills to enable them to maintain adequate customer service whilst ensuring that security functions are effectively conducted;
- A healthy lifestyle without dependence on alcohol or illegal substances (the use of prescription drugs should be considered on an individual basis to ensure that duties are not adversely affected); and
- Reasonable physical strength and agility (able to repeatedly lift and carry baggage or bend, reach, stoop, squat, stand for prolonged periods.
