Job Description
- Performs initial head to toe assessment and continuous assessment/reassessment of the ER patient’s physical and psychological needs
- Provides total, direct nursing care consistent with the plan of care and needs of the patients with respect for privacy, dignity and culture
- Performs a wide range of nursing procedures with attention to accuracy, patient safety and comfort, including those requiring strict aseptic technique.
- Carries out physician’s orders and reviews nursing and medical orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Prepares, administers, and documents the administration of oral, parental and topical medications as prescribed by the physician.
- Is responsible for the safe custody and administration of all drugs and medications.; Is knowledgeable of therapeutic effects, usual dosages, contraindications, side effects and adverse reactions for all drugs and parental fluids administered.
- Maintains accountability for narcotics and controlled drugs; Intervenes appropriately, efficiently and effectively in clinical emergency situations, initiates emergency resuscitative measures and assists with codes.
- Sets up equipment for and assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; May assists with transfer to other department and during ambulance transport to other facility.
- Teaches patients and their families with emphasis on compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimen.; Supports families in meeting the patient’s psychosocial needs
- Maintains a safe, clean and organized environment for the patient/family/visitors and staff; Demonstrates priority setting skills and timeliness in responding to patient needs.
- Monitors, documents VS, intake and output, reports if abnormal; Monitors for risk of infection and fall.
- Set up and assistance to the physicians for special procedures; Assess and documents the pain level using acceptable in the GPH measuring scale
- Adherence to change of shift bedside rounds/communication mechanism;Code cart checks performed daily at 0700 and 1900 hours
- Refrigerator temperature logs are completed once daily; Ensures appropriate preparation of patients for transfer to the other units, diagnostic procedures or surgery, including teaching and completion of assessment and pre-op/procedure checklist
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Nursing or similar fields.
- Preferably with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or HAAD license.
- Candidates applying without DHA license will need to undergo and pass Dubai Health Authority Data Flow Verification and Nurse examination
- BLS/ ACLS provider to follow within 6 months from date of joining.
- Professional experience: at least 1 year of recent the ER experience in Dubai/UAE or two years the ER experience following licensure/registration in the country of fluent spoken and written English.
- A skill in Arabic is preferred, but not essential
