Job Description
- Assessing, diagnosing, screening to identify the speech, language and communication difficulty or disorder.
- Devise and deliver a suitable Treatment Program, working on a one-to-one basis or in groups, to enable each of the kids to improve as much as possible.
- Works on developing confidence, self-esteem and social skills to help achieve their maximum potential.
- Patience; as progress maybe slow - involving repetitive exercises to aid kids who have problems memorizing, processing, and retaining information.
- Use a variety of strategies to build trust with the child, qualities such as empathy, assertiveness, tact, a sense of humor, physical and mental stamina are vital.
- Vigilant at all times to ensure and maintain a safe environment for the child.
- Keeping detailed notes on patient history and evaluating patient progress and implementing changes to therapy programs as required.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to assure that the child reaches their full potential.
- Provide timely and practical advice to parents and guardians and provide the knowledge and skills to them to assist in maximizing a child's development at home.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Education/Teaching/Training or similar fields.
- Must be resourceful, passionate speech therapist and treat communication disorders, including difficulties with speaking and understanding language, stuttering in children by creating a personalized program.
- Must possess excellent communication and listening skills and interpersonal skills
- Exhibit high levels of patience and tolerance to be able to assist children who are experiencing different level of disability and difficulties
- Creativity and Problem-Solving Skills; to design programs appropriate for different learning styles and communication issues
- Organizational skills and flexibility, ability to deal with a range of clients in varied settings
- Knowing when to use voice variation to assist with processing and self-regulation
- Degree in speech therapy or speech-language pathology required
- Must possess relevant license and certification to operate as a speech therapist
