Job Description
- Commis Chef 2s are responsible for preparing high-quality ingredients, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and measuring precisely
- Under the guidance of senior chefs, Commis Chef 2s participate in the cooking process, including grilling, sautéing, roasting, and other cooking techniques. They must ensure that the dishes meet the hotel's specifications for taste and presentatio
- They are responsible for plating dishes with precision and artistic flair, adhering to the hotel's standards for presentation and garnishing.
- In some cases, Commis Chef 2s may be asked to contribute ideas for new dishes or assist in creating daily specials.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workstation is paramount. They are also responsible for cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces.
- Commis Chef 2s help in managing ingredient inventory, ensuring that ingredients are fresh and readily available.
- Strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations is crucial to ensure food quality and safety.
- In a four-star hotel, Commis Chef 2s may be involved in catering and banquet events, assisting in the preparation and presentation of large-scale meals.
- Above all, Commis Chef 2s play a vital role in upholding the hotel's four-star culinary standards and delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management; Hospitality/Tourism Management or similar fields.
- Required: FIVE-STAR hotel experience in a similar role is a must.
- Must have formal culinary training from reputable culinary schools or institutions. A culinary diploma or degree is often an advantage.
- Must Have experience working in a professional kitchen.
- Should have a strong foundation in basic cooking techniques, food preparation, and culinary knowledge.
- The ability to contribute ideas and innovations to the menu or daily specials is valued, even at the Commis Chef 2 level.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills are crucial, and working closely with other kitchen staff and chefs to maintain the hotel's high standards.
- The ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations is essential in a fast-paced, upscale kitchen.
- Precise measurement, presentation, and consistency are critical.
- A strong understanding of food safety regulations and practices is mandatory to ensure food quality and safety.
