Job Description
- Performs daily operational tasks as per standard operating procedures i.e., Setting up of buffets and kitchen areas
- Ensure that product knowledge of all food items served is attained so that customers receive accurate information about the various food items services during service.
- Responsible for marshalling and providing guidance to the 2nd Commis Chefs on duty.
- Provides operational updates and communicates daily instances to the Chef De Partie
- Liaises with other internal departments particularly Food and Beverage unit to ensure that both departments remain updates with current trends.
- Works collectively and amicably with various team members to ensure a positive team environment.
- Ensure that visual appearance of the kitchen area is maintained at all times by reporting faulty equipment, furniture or items.
- Assist in the preparation of certain food items as directed by the Demi Chef De Partie.
- Ensure that all kitchen stocks are utilized on the basis of first-in, first-out, (FIFO) ensuring that the oldest stock items recorded as utilized first so that items do not expire and only the freshest stock is utilized.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management; Hospitality/Tourism Management or similar fields.
- Required: FIVE-STAR hotel experience in a similar role is a must.
- Must have A Commis Chef 1 formal culinary training, such as a culinary diploma or degree from a reputable culinary school. They may also have completed an apprenticeship or culinary program.
- Must have 3 years or more as Commis Chef 1. Have of experience working in a professional kitchen, which may include experience as a Commis Chef 1 or a similar role.
- Candidates should have a strong foundation in advanced cooking techniques, food preparation, and culinary knowledge. They should be able to handle more complex recipes and tasks.
- Must have experience in creating and developing new dishes or special menus, so creativity and the ability to contribute to menu planning are important.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills are crucial, must be able to work closely with other kitchen staff and chefs on more intricate dishes.
- They should be able to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced, upscale kitchen.
- Precise measurement, presentation, and consistency are critical.
- A strong understanding of food safety regulations and practices is mandatory to ensure food quality and safety.
