Job Description
- Perform welding operations using MIG/MAG welding equipment to join metal components or structures. This involves using an electric arc to melt and fuse metals together.
- Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and grinding metal surfaces. Ensure that surfaces are free from contaminants such as rust, paint, or grease.
- Set up MIG welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate welding wire, adjusting voltage and wire speed settings, and connecting gas cylinders.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. This includes the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
- Inspect welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Identify and address any defects or irregularities in the welding process.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the welding requirements for a particular project.
- Utilize various welding techniques, such as butt welding, fillet welding, and groove welding, depending on the project requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure it is in good working condition. Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues as needed.
- Work in a variety of settings, including manufacturing plants, construction sites, and fabrication shops. May involve working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Coordinate with other team members, including fabricators, engineers, and supervisors, to ensure effective communication and workflow.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new welding techniques, and equipment advancements. Attend training sessions or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering(Metal Fabrication/Tool & Die/Welding) or similar fields.

- Understand Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
