• Stronger Support for OFWs: The DMW launched the first OFW Global Summit as part of the 31st Migrant Workers Day celebration, reaffirming its commitment to providing faster, more efficient, and accessible services to OFWs and their families worldwide.
• Enhanced Reintegration Programs: The agency will continue expanding programs on psychosocial counseling, welfare assistance, retraining, upskilling, job matching, and livelihood opportunities in partnership with TESDA, CHED, DOLE, DTI, DA, and other government agencies.
• Long-Term Protection and Family Support: The DMW aims to strengthen protections for migrant workers through international labor agreements while also providing support services for OFW families, including counseling, values formation, livelihood assistance, and community-based activities for spouses and children left behind.

• Visa Restrictions Effective June 6: Hungary will stop issuing new worker visas to citizens of the Philippines, Georgia, and Armenia as part of its efforts to regulate the entry of foreign guest workers.
• Protection of Local Employment: The government said the move aims to tighten employment opportunities for foreign workers amid concerns that guest workers may put downward pressure on local wages.
• Existing Workers Not Affected: Foreign workers already in Hungary may still apply for visa extensions, and pending applications will continue to be evaluated. The government described this measure as the first step toward a long-term labor migration policy.

• OWWA and CHED Partnership: OWWA has partnered with CHED to launch the Lifelong Learning Education Assistance Program for OFWs (LEAP-OFWs), providing scholarships to qualified OFWs who wish to complete their college education.
• Degree Completion Through Work Experience: Eligible OFWs can earn college degrees through CHED’s Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), which recognizes relevant work experience and allows degree completion within six months to two years.
• More Career Opportunities: Completing a college degree can help OFWs qualify for professional licensure exams, secure promotions, and access better employment opportunities both overseas and in the Philippines.

• Expanded Reintegration Programs: Through the National Reintegration Network (NRN), the government is strengthening support for returning OFWs by providing psychosocial care, livelihood assistance, employment facilitation, and entrepreneurship opportunities nationwide.
• Business and Financing Support: Returning OFWs can access livelihood and business programs, including up to PHP 2 billion in financing through SB Corp., offering microloans ranging from PHP 30,000 to PHP 300,000 to help start or expand businesses.
• Upskilling and Education Opportunities: In partnership with TESDA and CHED, OFWs can enhance their skills, complete college degrees through the ETEEAP program, and improve their chances for career advancement, professional licensure, and local employment opportunities.

• Stronger Action Against Illegal Recruitment: The DMW is intensifying efforts to combat online overseas job scams and illegal recruitment schemes targeting aspiring OFWs through enhanced monitoring and enforcement activities.
• Partnership with Social Media Platforms: In collaboration with Meta and TikTok Philippines, authorities have removed over 204,000 illegal recruitment-related posts from social media platforms between 2020 and 2026.
• Expanded Protection and Awareness Campaigns: The DMW is strengthening coordination with government agencies, LGUs, and anti-trafficking partners to boost public awareness, rescue operations, legal assistance, and the detection of fake overseas job advertisements.
