Filipinos usually get hired for an overseas job through the assistance of a recruitment agency with a valid POEA license. However, an aspiring overseas worker can also get a job through POEA's Government Placement Branch or GPB, which serves as its in-house recruitment and job placement facility.

The POEA handles the OFW recruitment for foreign governments and select non-government employers. Getting a job through POEA has many advantages. For one, the applicant is assured that the job offer abroad is legal and the employer is reputable. No placement fee would also be required and the application processing period is fast because the job requirement is usually urgent.

Step by Step Procedure:

Search for available job openings. Urgent job openings are posted at the bulletin board of the POEA main office and its satellite and regional branches. It is also announced on its official website (www.poea.gov.ph) and its official social media pages such as Facebook and Twitter. You can also be informed of job vacancies through the advertisements on other online news sites, radio ads and print ads.

Submit your job application.Job application can be done online, just register at the POEA manpower registry system at www.eregister.poea.gov.ph. One can register at the POEA manpower registry system even if there is no job opening yet. The online facility allows its members to be part of the roster of applicants that might be considered for future job openings.

Apply in person. One can also apply personally by submitting an application and required documents to the POEA Building, Manpower Registry Division, Ground Floor, Windows S & T, EDSA corner Ortigas Avenue, Mandaluyong City. Applicants can also go to the nearest POEA satellite or regional branches.

Please note that the requirements should always be submitted personally. The requirements are the following:
A detailed resume with one piece 2x2 picture
College diploma
Transcript of Records
Valid PRC ID (if applicable)
Employment Certificates
Valid TESDA Certificate (if applicable)
Copy of valid passport
Valid NBI Clearance (for travel abroad)
Other documents that may be required

Attend a briefing. Selected applicants would be asked to attend a pre-documentation briefing at the Recruitment and Documentation Division (RDD), Government Placement Branch (GPB) located at the ground floor of the POEA Main Office.

Study Employment Offer. During this briefing, the applicant will be asked to read and study the employment contract and decide if he or she is willing to accept the job offer.

Medical Exam and PDOS. A medical examination at accredited OFW medical clinics/hospital is the next step after accepting the job offer. If no health problem is detected in the medical exam, the individual would then attend the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) at the 2nd floor of POEA Main Office.​

OFW Documentation. You then need to submit the following requirements for documentation at the POEA:

Duly accomplished OFW Information Sheet
Duly Executed Employment Contract / Employment Offer
Passport (Original & Photocopy)
Medical Certificate (original & photocopy)
Certificate of Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) (original & photocopy)
NBI Clearance (original & photocopy)
Duly Accomplished Visa Application Form
Copy of visa authorization / visa availability
3 pcs. passport size pictures (colored with white background)

Required Fees. Upon the release of the visa, payment for the following would be required:
USD50.00 (PhP equivalent) - POEA Processing Fee
USD25.00 (Php equivalent) - OWWA Membership Contribution
PhP900.00 - PhiHealth - Medicare
Visa Fee - depending on the country of destination
Pag-ibig contribution

 

Exit Clearance. Wait for your Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) which is also your POEA travel exit clearance. Then attend a pre-flight briefing conducted by GPB Account Officer at the Government Placement Branch, Ground Floor, for additional information and flight details.
Wait for the release of your travel documents (visa, passport, original employment contract and plane ticket).
