Job Description
- Pipefitter Installs and maintains piping systems on board ships - such as steam, heat, power, hydraulics, compressed air, sea water, freshwater and chilled water systems.
- Ability to perform pipe welding from various pipe items to support on-site installations, has welding certificates, fits and assembles parts into complete assembly and verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
- Interprets sketches and drawings to develop specifications for product to be fabricated or installed. Reads blueprints and engineering sketches to insure correct placements and measurements of assembly and welds.
- Creates jigs and fixtures to increase quality and production.
- Ability to measure cut and bore holes in bulkheads and decks for installation of piping.
- Strong procedural knowledge of pipe bending and shaping, and knowledgeable in operating shop machines to cut and thread pipe and pipe fittings.
- Ability to test installed systems utilizing hydrostatic or other comparable pressure testing means for system integrity after repairs or installation.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 year(s) of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be at least a high school graduate.
- Minimum work experience in pipefitting – 2 years in Cruise Ships, Yachts
- Knowledge of working tools; Ability to read isometric drawings
- Properly prepare the workplace and materials for pipeline installation; Ability to work with different pipes of various diameters (metal: black steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, plastic: PVC, PB, PE)
- Know pipeline systems and connection methods; Ability to solder pipes
- Know how to cut and install different angle elbows; Know how to tag weld; Ability to weld brackets (an advantage)
- Good English language knowledge
- George Fisher (+GF+) certificate would be an advantage
