- BS in Mechanical Engineering is required
- Proven track record (8+ years) of extensive mechanical design experience in a manufacturing or fabrication plant with automated production machinery, designing piping, equipment, instruments and skid-mounted systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D Modeling and SolidWorks software packages
· Thorough understanding of strength of materials, kinematics and dynamics, vibration, and fluid flow, as well as plastic injection molding and metallic part assembly, bowl feeders, product handling, part transfer and fixturing, process tooling, pneumatics, lead screws, cam devices, stepper/servo motors, drive systems, slide systems, sensor technologies and application, and machine control systems
· Ability to prepare and maintain engineering project design layouts, production drawings, 3D models and other related design file documentation per ANSI, API standards, completely and accurately, considering methods of manufacture, tolerance, and their effect on related parts
· Must have experience with pneumatic components
· Experience with discipline specific US Navy Mil-Specs and marine standards and specifications is preferred:
o Electrical- electronics, arrangements, shipboard cable routing and wire ways
o Naval Architecture- structural, foundations, outfitting and lofting
o Marine piping or HVAC
· Ability to analyze and interpret design drawings, manuals and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required
· Ability to use tensile testing machine to determine metal properties
· Ability to communicate technical and complex material to multiple audiences with differing knowledge levels
· Knowledge of the Six Sigma processes and the ability to apply Six Sigma principles to production process for continual improvement and operational effectiveness, preferred
· Ability to identify opportunities to improve current production processes and to implement the necessary steps for the improvements
· Self motivated and works primarily as an individual, but also work in a team environment, accomplishing any other duties as required
· Possesses the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Sensitive to tight time frames and deadlines
