4. Core Functions :

• To plan and supervise the implementation of leak detection activities, develop tenders for procurement of latest scientific instruments for leak detection and training courses, interact with other dept/section on issues pertaining to shutdowns, rectification of leaks, follow-up Call-Off Requests, RO permits etc and assist Head of Leak Detection Section in establishing UFW and Leakage Percentage Reports.

• Conducts pipe hydraulics studies of the water distribution network by district/zone in coordination with other WNA divisions to establish efficient operation of each district/zone.

• Establish procedures in liaison with Water Planning Division to collect required data in updating existing network models incorporating all latest expansion of Distribution Networks and Service Connections

Major Duties and Responsibilities :

1. 1. 1. 1. Conducts various types of tests for leak detection, analyze reports, pinpoint suspected leak locations, raise CWR for repairs to O & M Dept.

         2. Review existing network models and propose technical solutions in improving the over-all water distribution network and to have efficient leak control measures.

         3. Design new districts and distribution zones in coordination with Water Planning Division to include new development and expansion of distribution system.

         4. Assists Sr. Engineer (Connections & Permits) on preparation tenders related to Field Services Dept and studies on reports pertaining to SCADA and Master Plan and propose strategies to enhance performance of distribution system.

         5. Establish and update property categories and per capita consumption as part of system modeling and step test requirements.

         6. Establish new procedures to collect required data in updating existing network models incorporating all latest expansion of Distribution Networks and Service Connections.

         7. Assist Water Planning Division in studies of comprehensive distribution system analyses using latest hydraulic software to determine network deficiencies.

         8. Develops and recommends schemes for valving operations and water distribution system adjustments.

         9. Coordinates with other Sections/Divisions regarding the shifting of supply from one area to another in case of an emergency repair of pipe breaks.

         10. Provides technical guidance to the Technician on execution of any step test.

         11. Attends to any emergency situation following major leaks even after duty hours.

         12. Prepares weekly, monthly and annual progress reports.

         13. Performs other related duties as needed upon request by the immediate supervisor.

Supervise the Technician and labours of Leak Detection Section.
