To function as an assistance of the Supervisor Mechanical in guiding and controlling the activities assigned to the Mechanical Department. To function as Group leader of the Mechanical Benchfitters assigned to his team in the work- activities related to the Mechanical Department in the workshop or the yard.

Description of the duties:

 receives orders/instructions from Head of Department, supervisor and (Senior) project managers about the project tasks ;

 Assist the Supervisor Steel in the direction and assignment of work;

 Is responsible of the work of the steelworkers/ burners/ welders and other assigned personnel;

 If necessary lends technical assistance to subordinates for problem solving;

 Act as supervisor during absence of the supervisor Steel;

 Verifies and approves material requisitions of subordinates being supervised;

 Administrates and reports working hours per job number and per project;

 Observes safety regulations and maintains discipline;

 Performs duties peculiar to and normally required in the trade of steel department, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work;

 Performs other related duties as assigned;

 Makes evaluation of personnel;

 Maintains contact with; own department, project manager, and supervisors of other departments;

Knowledge:

 Comprehensive knowledge Mechanical Marine Engineering and systems, knowledge of material and the several types of tools;

 Reading and interpreting of mechanical drawings, schematics, repair specifications, planning and material specifications;

 Knowledge of Methods and techniques such as measuring of clearances and wear down, taking of deflections, load and brake test, alignment etc.

 Rigging, hoisting equipment and scaffolding

 Safety regulations;

 English

Function directed experience:

 There is a more or less 3 years related experience or

 Equivalent combination of education and experience

Complexity

 Work is carried out according to written or verbal instructions/indications and procedures of own Head of Department and supervisors.

 Work is subjected to last minute changes and priorities.

 Work is carried out in a matrix organization

 Work is carried out in shift and Group Leader must take over work of other shifts

Responsibility

Is responsible for:

 Production on the job, leads and supervises benchfitters assigned to his team

 Lends technical assistance to subordinates

 Execution of the work according to Quality procedures

 Safety in general and safety for others in his team.

Reports to

 Designated Supervisor and/ or Head of department.
