1.0  JOB PURPOSE:

As to the purpose of the job, this involves stating clearly and concisely in one or two sentences the specific contribution expected of the job with regards to realizing a specific goal/output. Thus, you need to express the specific role the job plays in realizing the organization’s goals, or the reason the job exists. The purpose of the job also summarizes the various accountabilities in the job:

Carries out a variety of mechanical design activities such as preparing conceptual, front end and detail design packages for various types of mechanical and machinery systems, analyzing requirements, developing and preparing detailed equipment specifications, etc.

2.0  ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

In a job, employees are accountable for realizing part of the organization’s objectives. In other words: jobs provide a contribution towards realizing the organizational objectives. To realize the purpose of a job, an employee will have to realize multiple objectives. In this section, list the main job duties and responsibilities required to fully meet the accountabilities.

a)     SHE (Safety, Health and Environment): Support achieving company target Incident Rate. Report near misses and participate in incident investigations..

b)    Provides all project mechanical and structural technical input for projects for work to be done, like additions to existing facilities such as boilers, heaters, exchangers, piping and tanks, machines; and  direct replacing of a equipments or introducing some modifications to existing facilities.

c)     Develops basic concepts, design calculation and alternative solutions to identified problems.  Includes analyzing needs and the feasibility of various approaches.  Determines optimum solution with due regard to safety, efficiency and cost, discussing as necessary with Manufacturing personnel.

d)    Prepares detailed specifications for the equipment required.  Includes initiating purchase requisitions, preparing detailed engineering designs with required calculations, and writing detailed installation package with drawings and specifications, that are forwarded for construction by outside contractors or Maintenance.

e)     Oversees design and drafting activities related to projects.  Includes preparing design sketches, directing and guiding assigned draftsmen to ensure conformity to Yanpet/Sabic standards and specifications.

f)     Inspects the progress of implementation of construction activities at all stages to ensure that project meets specifications and that standards are being maintained.  Oversees the work of outside contractors.  Ensures that all project outstanding items are cleared, and support in preparing project closing documentation including drawings, data sheets and financial closeout report.

g)    Performs other similar or related duties such as making periodic presentations on project technical package status, protecting the confidentiality of project information, preparing or maintain equipment index, carrying out special analytical or diagnostic studies, providing preliminary cost estimates.

h)     Review the MOC packages related to Mechanical field to ensure that they are technically acceptable and meeting the specification and standards.

i)      Prepare all required department reports including project status, schedules, and cost monitoring, as applicable.

j)      Participate in Process Hazard Analysis for projects that have effect on Unit operations or required modifications to existing systems.

k)     Prepare cost estimate basis for capital budget projects considering all material, engineering man-hours and details construction packages.

l)      Performs material selection out of vendor quotations and evaluate technical bids of engineering & construction contractors are meeting the project requirements or not.
