5 years of clinical nursing experience, post-general nurse registration, 2 years of which must be post-Midwifery qualification
Assists in orientation/training of new nurses under the direction of the Supervisor.
Performs all normal deliveries, identifying and alerting any deviation from normal labor to the Obstetrician on call.
Well-experienced in, and be required to perform, the following procedures:
Performing ARM - Applying FSE.
Interpretation of CTG.
Use of Oxytocin (Augmentation and Induction of labor).
Use of Oxytocin for management of 3rd stage of labor.
Resuscitation of the newborn - Neonatal Resuscitation Program certified Episiotomy.
Perineal suturing - 1st degree laceration, 2nd degree laceration and care of postpartum patient.
Use of Magnesium Sulfate for Pre-eclampsia and premature labor.
In general, all work is performed on a 24/7 rotational assignment of 12 hour shifts consisting of days and nights.
