Job Description and Requirements
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • 5 to 10 years of work experience as a mechanic

Task Description:
  • Reads technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to the all maintenance crew.
  • Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems; repairs and rebuilds commercial movers, saws, self-propelled rollers, and compactors, etc.
  • Diagnoses problems and repairs brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, hydraulic systems, valves, pumps and electrical problems.
  • Performs tune-ups on vehicles routinely as needed.
  • Welds equipment as needed.
  • Sand blasts, paints and repairs body of equipment as needed.
  • Prepares shop work orders on equipment repair.
  • Orders parts as needed to maintain stock; picks up parts.
  • Checks and schedules work with all departments.
  • Makes service calls as needed.
  • Cleans shop, storage area and parts room.
