Qualifications:

• Requires a broad understanding of the Smelting facility, the process, materials, and people.
• A minimum of demonstrated success in relative supervisory experience is required, with a minimum of 8-10 years in a manufacturing industry.
• A technical diploma is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability in providing leadership, achieving results and driving change is required.
• Must direct and coordinate a team of highly skilled maintenance mechanics, electricians and instrument technicians to ensure all plant equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
• The plant operates 365 days per year which requires extensive planning, organization and effective delegation and communication to subordinates to meet established production goals.
• Provides on-call coverage for all assets.
• Has extensive problem solving requirements associated with maintenance of large and sophisticated mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment, including an electrical substation.
• Must have a highly developed human relations skills to direct and motivate subordinates and in addressing the competing and conflicting demands for maintenance services.
• Demonstrated PC skills are required, including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS-Outlook.

Task Description:

• Ensures continuous, effective, efficient, and safe plant operations by providing technical expertise in: development of area maintenance teams, equipment maintenance procedures, maintenance of plant equipment and facilities, develop continuous improvement of processes (maintenance and production), and continuous improvement of process efficiency and performance.
• Leads craft supervision and/or planning and have the ability to perform maintenance supervision duties for any area of the plant.
• The principal challenge is to provide leadership in day-to-day activities that are aligned with maintenance plans in the areas of production, safety & health, environment, cost, continuous improvement, quality, customer satisfaction and labor relations.
• Ensures close follow-up of plan and unplanned maintenance activity in order to restore plant capacity in a timely manner.
