Position Summary:
The Specialist-I, Radiology ensures and maintains excellent radiology standards and assumes responsibility for the achievement of quality for all radiological services including diagnostic and radiological procedures.
Nature and Scope of Position:

Provides a high quality, professional and efficient diagnostic service by providing 'Gold Standard' comparable radiology reports across a wide range of radiological examinations;

Ensures, in liaison with Chief, Radiology Services and Consultants, that quality management programs are implemented and monitored on a regular basis;

Monitors achievement and maintenance of high standard of professional and ethical practices; provides technical advice to radiology technologist and technicians;

Discusses cases with Consultant; advises physicians on further appropriate radiological investigations on an individual basis if any discrepancy or doubt arises;

Identifies new emerging trends and technologies in the radiology field; advices on kind and quantity of radiology machines and medical supplies; oversees the inventories of all equipments and supplies and ensures operation within approved budget;

Ensures quality assurance, external and internal, and does calibration on regular basis in order to ensure the generation of high quality and reliable tests results;

Ensures that all statistical information, equipment information, daily x-ray film reports are documented appropriately as per departmental protocol;

Provides and maintains reports on the running of the radiology department on a regular basis and as required; coordinates in the operation and maintenance of automated and other radiology equipment;

Participates in approved training programs and maintains adequate continued medical education (CME) / continued professional development (CPD) activities for Radiology department members;

Participates in teaching and diagnostic practice in the radiology department or extended outside the department when applicable; promotes research activities in the department;

Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

In depth knowledge of radiation protection and dosimetry and be able to advise staff of changes in practice, and clients on the risks and possible effects of radiation;

Knowledge of physical and operational characteristics of radiology equipment; Demonstrates high competency in furnishing essential interpretation of image reporting and differential diagnosis to physicians;

Demonstrates expertise in diagnostic and technical practices and has the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English combined with the ability to provide excellent customer service with high level of integrity, honesty and desire to improve both quality of work and working conditions;

Proficiency in MS Office and the use of Internet as a communication tool;

Flexible and willing to work on a shift basis, outside normal working hours and during holidays;

Capable of working in any section with males or females or/in any associated / affiliated department outside Medical Commission premises;

Related, Experience Education & Training:
-
Masters of an accredited medical school and successful completion of appropriate internship and residency requirements. Overall 8 years experience post MD in Clinical Radiology in reputed hospital. Should be an experienced Radiologist with a minimum of 4 years experience in the specialist field of plain image interpretation, specifically in the chest x-ray image reporting and differential diagnosis, including diagnosis of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases;

Holds current certification accredited by the NHA with appropriate licensure to practice in the field of Radiology e.g. MRCR, MD Radiology, Arab Board Certification, American/ Canadian / European / Scandinavian / Australian / New Zealand Board or Royal College Membership / Fellowship Certification or Masters degree or PhD in Radiology or equivalent;

Licensed form the relevant authorities in Qatar as a radiation worker.
