Essential Duties: 1.Responsible for the design and planning of all new buildings and significant building redevelopments within Hamad Medical Corporation and which lie within the scope of responsibility for Facilities Development Department as determined by the Facilities Development Steering Committee guidelines. 2.Ensure that all new building projects that are the responsibility of the Facilities Development Department, have planning and design advice made available to them by appointing specialists, either full time or through the engagement of consultants, for : Architectural Design Mechanical systems Electrical systems Civil and structural systems 3.Oversight the work of the Director for Technical and Medical Equipment Planning and ensure the engagement of specialists for the Medical Devices Team, Radiology Team, Surgical Equipment Team, Monitoring and Life support Team to ensure correct technical specification for equipment 4.Work, in conjunction with the Director for Technical and Medical Equipment Planning, to ensure that all medical equipment is properly integrated with the HMC’s information systems strategy. 5.Resolve areas of conflict that may affect the progression and development of any construction project 6.Provide timely progress reports to the AMD through the Monitoring and Reporting Unit including progress against milestones, risks, issues, exception reports, and impact of events external to the building projects. 7.Review document control and configuration management systems to ensure governance needs are met 8.Alert the AMD Facilities Development , and the Executive Director Project Management and Construction about any potential high risk delays to the project building work outside of the regular reporting systems 9.Examine the records of the completed building project to assess the quality and risk management of the building 10.Assess the results of the new building project against what it was intended to achieve 11.Identify lessons learnt, and what may be applied to future building projects 12.Provide a post project review plan on all new building projects for ratification by the AMD Facilities Development 13.Confirm closure of the planning and design phase and handover to the Executive Director Project Management and Construction 14.Manage staff within the appointed area of responsibility ensuring correct policies and procedures are adhered to from both an HR perspective and financial perspective 15.Contribute to the annual budget setting cycle and in conjunction with the AMD Facilities , submit the budget for the department 16.Ensure all staff within the department undertake annual performance appraisal and review Position Qualifications: Education: Minimum – A graduate degree in Architecture from recognized School of Architecture, and over twelve (10) years of relevant experience, including senior roles in a successful and well referred health planning and architectural design firm or government agency. Demonstrated knowledge and competency with internationally recognized Hospital Planning and Design standards, such as the A.I.A, and NHS.
