Assists in managing the patient care unit for administrative and clinical aspects to include organizing, developing, directing and assuring the delivery of cost-effective, quality patient care. Assists in the process which ensures that patient care is delivered in accordance with established corporate wide policies and procedures, State regulations, and Nursing standards, and the hospital’s code of ethics. Provides education to staff based on the theoretical and clinical expertise. This position will be accountable to ensure clinical resource and continuity of patient care during her/his duty hours.

Position Summary

Principal Accountabilities

Charge Nurses are responsible to a Head Nurse and assist in management of a defined area of organized nursing services. Charge Nurse allocate resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate nursing care, provide input into executive; level decisions, and keep staff informed of executive; level activities.        

The Charge Nurse engages the following activities in collaboration with nursing personnel and members of other disciplines:        

        

Provides guidance for and supervision of personnel accountable to the Charge Nurse.        

Coordinates nursing services with the services of other health care disciplines.        

         

Assumes responsibility for staffing and scheduling personnel. Assignments reflect appropriate utilization of personnel.        

Fosters a climate conducive to education experiences for nurses and students.        

Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of care.        

Accepts organizational accountability for services provides to recipients.        

Assures appropriate orientation, education, and professional development for personnel.

JOB DESCRIPTION

· Education:

DIPLOMA IN NURSING / BS NURSING

· Experience:

Clinical and administrative practice in acute care. / Three years experiences in clinical related specialty; one year supervisory or management experience, working knowledge of Performance Improvement process.

· Required Certification or Licensure or Registration:

Registered Nurse, BLS

· Language Skills:

English Basic, Arabic Basic

· Computer Skills:

Not Applicable
