The Airport Safety Officer (ASO) is responsible to provide additional resource with technical and operational expertise to improve safety at Fujairah International Airport.
2. NATURE & SCOPE
Reporting directly to the Safety and Quality Manager; and is accountable for delivering, recording and reporting on the following areas, refer Section 3, in accordance with Fujairah International Airport’s Aerodrome Operations Manual and the General Civil Aviation Authority requirements.
3. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
§ Procedural compliance.
§ Hazard identification and associated risk assessment.
§ Wildlife management.
§ Airport Safety Management System implementation, maintenance and monitoring.
§ Control and enforce airside regulations.
§ Chair the runway safety group meetings.
§ Audit airport fuel suppliers.
§ Liaise with other departments and sections to develop standard operating procedures.
§ Assessment of Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS) penetration, control and issuance of crane permit.
§ Safety Case development.
§ Audit airport departments and functions and generate audit report.
§ Coordinate with Airport Quality Officer regarding departmental/airport quality projects and issues.
§ Training
§ Administrative functions as required by the department.
§ The job holder is also responsible for monitoring the following in accordance with Fujairah International Airport’s procedures:
· Apron Safety Standards
· Movement Area inspection and standards
· Monitoring and supervision of contractors of the airport
§ The majority of contact will be with internal stakeholders however, some contact with external contractors, stakeholders and the GCAA will be required.
§ Act as Safety and Quality Department – OIC in the absence of the Safety & Quality Manager.
§ Any other work related duty assigned by the Safety and Quality Manager.
Decision Making Authority:
The job holder has the authority to stop dangerous or hazardous activities at the airport.
4. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
§ Minimum educational requirement is degree level education.
§ Training in Safety Management and Quality Management Systems.
§ Minimum of two years knowledge and experience of safety management is required.
§ Audit and airport ramp operations to IATA standards are also desirable.
§ IT proficiency for MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
§ Communication skills: written English for report writing and spoken English for verbal communication.
§ Color sight.
§ Ability to work shift patterns (24/7).
§ UAE driving license.
§ Radio Telephony competency for UHF/VHF.
